Abstract: The YSI Electronic Hematocrit gives rapid and reproducible results with fish blood, and the readings can be correlated to microhematocrit values. In the low hematocrit range, they are difficult to correct; but they may prove useful as a gross, rapid method for determining anemia. Electrolyte and protein concentrations in fish blood influence the electronic hematocrit; the relative size of erythrocytes may also. |
