Fragmented forests in the northern breeding grounds and the loss of habitats in tropical wintering zones have been suggested as two major factors in the population declines." "This is the first technical volume to focus exclusively on the question of northern hemispheric migratory landbird declines and their conservation. More than one hundred leading scholars working in the Americas and the Caribbean report on the problems facing these birds and suggest strategies for research and conservation.
