Abstract: The acute oral toxicities of the lampricides 3-trifluoromethyl-4-nitrophenol (TFM) and the 2-aminoethanol salt of 2',5-dichloro-4'-nitrosalicylanilide (Bayer 73) were determined in mallards, ring-billed gulls, bobwhites, and California quail. From the data gathered by this study, the use of TFM or Bayer 73 alone, or in combination, present little toxic hazard to birds when applied in the amounts routinely used for lamprey control. |
