Abstract: Mammals imported into the United States in 1972 are tabulated by species and country of origin. Total numbers imported from 1968 through 1972 are given for higher taxa and for species most frequently imported. The numbers of mammals imported in 1972 increased only very slightly from those imported in 1971 largely as a result of increased importation of laboratory animals (Muridae) from Europe. Lists of rare and endangered species imported and of mammals whose importation is restricted are also given. |
