Abstract: Innoculation of channel catfish with Chondrococcus columnaris and channel catfish virus resulted in a rapid primary response to both antigens. The secondary response to the bacterium was rapid but weaker than that often seen in warmblooded animals, whereas the secondary response to virus was weak, and of relatively short duration. Partial antibody characterization indicates that specific channel catfish immunoglobulins are macroglobulins with characteristics like those of most fish immunoglobulins and similar to those of human immunoglobulin-M. |
