Planning for the Wildlife Disease Research Building began in January 2007. This building was to be attached to the east side of the Animal Research Building and Invasive Species Research Building. It would contain state-of-the-art BLS-3 facilities for research on wildlife and their diseases. The planning process had reached the Solicitation for Offers phase when the financial crisis of 2008 caused major budget cuts. This stalled the project and resulted in the decision to take a step back and redesign the building so that it would fit a new, smaller budget. However, the project continued to experience issues with funding and was eventually terminated by the GSA in late 2010. As of today, there are no plans to pick the project back up.Compiled by William Dusenberry, this collection ranges from January 2007- December 2010. It covers the development of the Wildlife Disease Research Building from planning to cancellation. It includes blueprints, oversize maps, correspondences, reports, cost estimates, articles, images, and SFOs. |
