The Bureau of Biological Survey began research in Hawaii in 1935. By 1967 an official field station was built and staffed with DWRC researchers to conduct rodent control work in Hilo, Hawaii. In 1982, all federal funding for the Hilo Field Station was cut, which led to its closure in 1983. But in 1988 Congress appropriated funds to re-open and renovate the Hilo Hawaii Field Station. This collection consists of photographs and documentation that highlights the renovations and re-opening of the Hilo Field Station in 1989 |
