USDA Wildlife Services aids State agencies and the USFWS to assist in recovery of the state-​endangered Delmarva fox squirrel (Sciurus niger cinereus) by relocation from Maryland to a Delaware wildlife area in Sussex County. Delmarva fox squirrel in cage trap nonchalantly awaits evaluation before transport to Delaware. The species is about twice the size of common gray squirrels and can be identified by silver-gray fur, fuller tail, short/stubby ears and short/stocky neck. |
