Description: |
On Kauaʻi, the successful population recovery of the formally endangered Hawaiian goose (nēnē) created a substantial need for more wildlife hazard management to prevent aircraft collisions at the Līhuʻe Airport. Through cooperative funding from H-DOT-A and in collaboration with NWRC, WS-HI is employing 4 border collies as a non-lethal hazing tool at the airport adjacent Hōkūala Resort property, supporting human safety and protecting the recovering nēnē population from aircraft collisions. |
