Description: |
More than 2,000 nesting pairs of Laughing gulls descend on the island annually to breed. WS has been conducting damage management activities for nearly 15 years to protect T/E Royal Terns, Sandwich Terns, Oystercatchers and Black Skimmers that also nest on the island from severe depredation by the gulls. The gulls will also loaf and stumble into the bridge tunnels (Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel) and cause severe traffic backups and occasional traffic accidents. 2018 WS Photo Contest Entry |
